Presence is a Practice
February has arrived– the month of love and candy hearts. Big gestures. Sweet words. Reminders to cherish our people.
And yet, the truth is quieter: most of life is made up of small, ordinary moments. A shared laugh. A spontaneous adventure. A quiet moment of vulnerability with a friend. These moments don’t announce themselves as important—but they pass quickly and live on as memories.
Mortality has a way of sharpening our awareness of this. It reminds us that our time is not endless, and that presence is something we practice—not something we stumble into by accident. When we pause long enough to really notice where we are and who we’re with, ordinary moments begin to feel sacred.
This month, we invite you to slow down just a little. To notice the people who make your life feel fuller and let them know. To love them not someday, but right here—inside the moment you’re already living.
Morsel of Mortality:
“The way to develop the habit of savoring is to pause when something is beautiful and good and catches our attention - the sound of rain, the look of the night sky - the glow in a child’s eyes, or when we witness some kindness. Pause... then totally immerse in the experience of savoring.”
- Tara Brach
What small, ordinary moments have brought you a sense of presence lately?
Warmly walking with you,
